OregonliveThe Portland Trail Blazers (5-9) are taking on the New Orleans Pelicans (4-9) on Tuesday, Nov. 19 at 5 p.m. PT at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans, Louisiana. And they will have a new face in the starting lineup when they take the floor.
Veteran forward Carmelo Anthony joined the Blazers in New Orleans and will was activated ahead of Tuesday’s game. Head coach Terry Stotts later revealed that Anthony would start the game for Portland tonight and could play around 20 minutes in his first appearance with the Blazers.
UPDATE: Here are Carmelo Anthony’s first points as a Blazer, which came on a three-point shot. In his first shift, Melo played just over six minutes where he had five points, one rebound and one block and went 2-for-4 from the field.

The Blazers signed Anthony to fill a void at power forward and give Portland another option on offense. Anthony ranks 19th all-time in the NBA in points (25,551), 21st in field goals (9,137) and 41st in three-pointers (1,362), but the 35-year-old hasn’t played in the NBA since 2018.
Blazers guard Damian Lillard (back spasms) has been ruled out of Tuesday’s game.
Tuesday’s game will be the second game in a back-to-back for the Blazers. Portland is coming off a disappointing 132-108 loss to the Houston Rockets Monday, their most lopsided loss of the season. The Blazers will have a chance to rebound against a struggling Pelicans team Tuesday. New Orleans beat the last-place Golden State Warriors 108-100 in their most recent game Sunday.
